Integrative Analyses Reveal a Long Noncoding RNA-Mediated Sponge Regulatory Network in Prostate Cancer
Researchers identified a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-mediated sponge regulatory network that affects the expression of many protein-coding prostate cancer driver genes, by integrating analysis of sequence features and gene expression profiles of both lncRNAs and protein-coding genes in tumors. Investigators showed that irradiating prostate cancer cells stimulates a durable upregulation of stem cell markers that epigenetically reprogram these cells. [Cancer Res] Abstract

C/EBPβ Regulates Sensitivity to Bortezomib in Prostate Cancer Cells by Inducing REDD1 and Autophagosome-Lysosome Fusion
Researchers investigated whether C/EBPβ, a transcription factor involved in the control of autophagic gene expression, regulates resistance to proteasome inhibition. [Cancer Lett] Abstract

Prostate-Derived Ets Factor Represses Tumorigenesis and Modulates Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition in Bladder Carcinoma Cells
In a comparison between normal urothelium and bladder tumor tissue, the authors identified significant decreases of prostate-derived Ets (E-twenty six) factor (PDEF) in the tumor tissue. The immunohistochemistry assays indicated a significantly higher immunostaining of PDEF in low-grade bladder tumors. [Cancer Lett] Abstract

Graviola Inhibits Hypoxia-Induced NADPH Oxidase Activity in Prostate Cancer Cells Reducing Their Proliferation and Clonogenicity
Scientists report that NADPH oxidase (NOX) expression is directly associated with prostate cancer (PCa) progression in TRAMP mice, suggesting NOX as a potential chemoprevention target in controlling PCa. [Sci Rep] Full Article

Researchers showed that phosphoinositide 3-kinases-class II subfamily regulates mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase and extracellular signal-regulated kinase activation in prostate cancer cells. [Sci Rep] Full Article

12-HETER1/GPR31, a High-Affinity 12(S)-Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic Acid Receptor, Is Significantly Up-Regulated in Prostate Cancer and Plays a Critical Role in Prostate Cancer Progression
Researchers have determined the distribution of 12-HETER1/GPR31 in prostate cancer tissue and its role in prostate tumorigenesis using in vitro and in vivo assays. [FASEB J] Abstract

Phosphatase of Regenerating Liver 3 (PRL-3) Is Overexpressed in Human Prostate Cancer Tissue and Promotes Growth and Migration
The authors investigated the expression of PRL-3 mRNA in fresh-frozen samples from patients undergoing radical prostatectomy because of prostate cancer and the biological function of PRL-3 in prostate cancer cells. [J Transl Med] Full Article
